About Andrew Elsbury

Andrew Elsbury grew up in Hoppers Crossing in a RAAF family who had come to the area like many others in the seventies. Andrew’s family first lived in Hickory Street Werribee before buying a home in Hoppers Crossing at which time Andrew was born.

Growing up Andrew’s father worked as a public servant in the Navy while his mother was a care giver who also dedicated a great deal of time volunteering at St Peters Primary School, Hoppers Crossing Secondary College and the Werribee Junior Badminton Association.

Andrew attended the Doctor Charles Prouse Kindergarten before attending St Peter the Apostle Primary School and Hoppers Crossing Secondary College to complete his school education. Andrew then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations) at Deakin University.

While at Deakin, Andrew was elected to the Geelong Association of Students as Arts Rep. In this role Andrew also worked as a student advocate on Academic Board Hearings, assisted in event organisation, managed student enquires and assisted in cooking the fortnightly BBQ’s the association held. Andrew continued his official role for one and a half years before deciding he needed to concentrate on studies.

While at university, Andrew worked: at Video Ezy Werribee, as a mail sorter at Deakin University and was one of those annoying people at train stations handing out fliers to pay for his education.

Andrew moved to Altona for a few years, when he married. Before long he and his wife moved to Tarneit where they had built their home and when his two daughters were born. Unfortunately Andrew’s marriage did not last but his dedication to his children held firm, moving to Hoppers Crossing to ensure a close connection and regular contact.

Andrew now lives with his fiancée and her daughter who he calls his daughter and who calls him dad. The family will celebrate a wedding at the end of 2024.
